Meet SEH

I’m Susan E. Hanna and I sign my work as “SEH.”

Visit my large, beautiful working studio, classroom, and exhibit space in downtown Dover, NH.

1 Washington Street, Suite 1119 (First Floor), Dover, New Hampshire

This is where I create and exhibit many of my oil paintings. But, I spend many hours there teaching private lessons to students of all ages. I also offer small group oil painting courses strictly limited to 4 students per course. Check for current offerings on my Event page.

Helping other artists to grow their businesses has also become a passion. So, I now offer Professional Development Workshops for Artists here in the Dover studio and at various venues around New England. Please check out the listings on my Event page.

I am a full-time artist. My joy derives from recreating, and hopefully sharing, the pleasure I feel when I see light glowing through the leaves, across the sky or skittering along wave tops and eddies. I want others to also feel a little breathless at the way a current leads to the coastline, which echoes the cliff line high above where branches gracefully keep the mind’s eye moving. Patrons have described my art as “serene.” And that’s probably the closest description to how I feel when I paint.

SEH Studios work includes landscapes, coastal scenes, garden scenes and portraits of people or homes.  I enjoy painting en plein air (outdoors) but spend substantial time working in my studio/classroom in downtown Dover, NH.

“Presenting Your Art Professionally”

“I came to this to support a dear friend…WOW!…i walked away with so much knowledge on the oh so many items that i never considered before. The detail that was covered for artists was astounding, not just for outdoor presentations, but for artists in general as to how to focus and audit who and what you are to the public as a professional.” ~ Steven Lawlor-Jones

“Art Price Planning”

“Your presentation tonight at the HAS meeting was terrific.  Learned a lot and realized that I have never taken my art seriously.  It has been a hobby for far too long.  Time to take it seriously.  Your presentation has given me the impetus to stop playing and start being serious. Many thanks my friend for your inspiration and knowledge.”
~ Sarah Roche

“Susan is professional and has a wealth of knowledge! I heard her speak at the Hollis Art Society’s monthly meeting, it was a great workshop on artist financing. Thank you!” ~ Christie M.
