2026 "Chocorua Birches" Watercolor Workshops

Friday September 25, 2026 - Fall Theme "Chocorua Birches"!
THIS WORKSHOP IS FULL BUT THERE IS A WAITLIST.

Each workshop stands alone and will teach you a different scene to paint!
From Sam: "The projects I have in mind are designed to be tailored to any skill level. I will provide reference guides and demonstrate each painting step-by-step."
In these watercolor workshop, students will explore how to paint light and shadow in landscapes to create luminous, striking results. Emphasis will be placed on using the white of the paper intentionally to achieve glow, depth, and atmosphere. Each workshop explores a different subject such as cumulous clouds over a summer landscape.

- 3 Hours of Expert Instruction Per Date: Enjoy guided, individual attention from our professional artist.
-No Experience Needed: Learn to use a limited palette.
-Individual Attention: Immediately ask questions and receive lots of hands-on help.
-On-site Art Supply Store: Conveniently purchase your class materials or bring your own.*
-Small Groups of 6: You will learn in-person from an expert with other friendly art lovers.
-Location: SEH Studios Art Gallery, 456 Central Ave., Dover, NH
*Supplies Available for Purchase Here at Dover Art Supply or bring your own:
- M. Graham or other professional Watercolor paints: Azo Yellow OR Lemon Yellow, Magenta OR Quinacridone Rose, Ultramarine Blue, and Burnt Umber. Please use professional paints for best results. Store brands will disappoint! Sam will bring Sap Green and Yellow Ochre for you to share.
- Watercolor Brushes: Round #4, Round #10-12, 1/4inch Flat, and 3/4 inch Flat (We will offer limited brushes to share.) Cheap brushes will also disappoint!
- Watercolor Paper: 140# Cold Press 9x12 or 10x15 - one or two sheets per workshop
- Small Watercolor Palette
- Optional but helpful: small water spray bottle, pencil, and kneaded eraser

About Sam:
Sam is a New Hampshire-based artist working in watercolor and gouache. She enjoys painting a variety of subjects as a means of expression, observation, and meditation. Having mentored under the late local artist Dan Britt for many years, her watercolor style is heavily influenced by his classic New England aestheti
